Introduction

Who are we?
Age Concern Romsey & District - we help serve the needs and interests of older people in the Romsey and District area. We cover not only Romsey Town itself but the whole of the Southern Test Valley area, including Sherfield English, Lockerley, West Wellow, Timsbury, Ampfield, North Baddesley, Nursling and Rownhams to name but a few.

Originally known as the Romsey over-60s Club, we became Age Concern in 1989 to recognise the impending explosion nationally of the over-60s population to some 19 million people by 2031 (which is one-third of the total UK population!).

We have over 30 people actively involved with the running of the group and these include committee members, part-time workers, volunteers and helpers.

Why we are here?
To promote the well-being of all older people and to help make life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. We are here to help older people to live as independently as possible. We are involved in providing a range of activities and services for older people in the Romsey and District area, from community based activities at Linden Road Hall in Romsey, through to supplying ‘Home Help’, ‘Pop-in’, Gardening and Information/Advice and Signposting services. Many of these services are designed to help older people remain in their homes for as long as possible by supporting their domestic needs.

Activities at the Linden Road Hall
For many years we have provided an extensive range of activities and services for older people in our community at the Age Concern Hall in Linden Road. These range from lunches, teas, soup and roll, right through to bingo, exercise classes and foot clinics and not forgetting our very popular monthly tea dance and special festive events. We have something going on every weekday and sometimes at weekends. See the events page for details.
