Best Foot forward Until a few years ago there was a foot clinic in Romsey Hospital. The primary Care Trust (PCT) moved it out in 2003 and a room was found for it at Age Concern Hall, Romsey. Jean Denham, Chairman of the League of Friends of Romsey Hospital said "The PCT paid the rent for that but now they have withdrawn their funding. Unfortunately the cost of the rent was to be passed on to the patients, increasing their bills by £5 a visit. The League was concerned by this, especially as some older patients are on a fixed pension. Our constitution allows us to help patients in the community so we have stepped in and will pay the rent for one year for the Tuesday clinic, run by pedicurist Tina Peters. Tina says "The patients are very pleased and I cannot thank the League enough for this generous help." * * * * * * * * * * Medicine Trolley gift to the hospital The Romsey Male Voice Choir have presented Romsey Hospital with a medicine trolley in memory of a well-known pharmacist, Jeff Holloway. Jeff, who joined the choir when it was first formed 10 years ago, sang as second tenor. The choir made the donation to the League of Friends, who added a further contribution from their funds in order to buy the trolley, which bears a plaque in Jeff's memory. The Hospital ward manager, Marilyn Maddigan said the nurses were very pleased because it was so easy to push because it just glides along. She added that it was good to have such an appropriate gift in his memory. All money donated to the League of Friends is spent on helping the Hospital. * * * * * * * * * * Romsey Hospital Romsey Hospital is committeed to providing high quality care, whilst working closely with patients, carers and relatives.
