Researching family history and am looking for any information relating to William Dakins Born C 1735, who is reported as having married a Sarah .....? He is described as being a resident of Romsey. Same William Dakins was the father of Rev Dr William Whitfield Dakins (one time Principal Chaplain to the forces and Dean of Westminster) Thomas, Charles and John Dakins. Any information would be very much appreciated as he is proving to be frustratingly elusive! Steve Dakyns

I am compiling my family history and believe that there are links with Hampshire and in particular Romsey. If anyone has information about the family name of Mattingly please could they e-mail me. My Great Grandfather was Richard Edward Mattingly he was living in Ebury Street, Pimlico, London in 1911 and I am told that his father was from Romsey or thereabouts. I have a webpage dedicated to the Mattingly family name. The address is below should anyone be interested. Thanks Best regards Steven Mattingly http://www.mattingly.org.uk

I am trying to trace my family tree. I know my Great grand parents lived at No.66 The Hundred as I have seen a copy of the 1881 Census. By that time my Great Grandfather had died and my Grandfather was brought up by the family who lived next door by the name of Hoguez (they came from Alderney). I am eager to trace my Great Grandfather and find out if he was a Romsey man or whether he moved there after his marriage. If anyone can help please email me.
