       Summary

Most of Romsey’s water derives from Test
The Tadburn Lake is a tributary from the east.

The Test

  • The Test splits at May’s Island by Timsbury bridge.
  • The large braids of the Test run to the west of the town.
  • The Fishlake runs through the town and is the source of most of our visible water in the town centre.

Canal and Tadburn Lake

  • The canal is the easternmost channel of the Test and runs southward.
  • The Tadburn is a separate stream coming in from Ampfield through Halterworth and westward along the By-pass.
  • The Tadburn has a long history of flooding the town.
